Yes. As long as you don’t have a uterine infection during birth and everything is stored and handled properly, it is safe.

Please make sure your doctor or midwife is aware prior to labor and staff are reminded upon arrival that you plan to keep your placenta. It can be helpful for your partner or Doula to also advocate for this as the placenta is birthed. They will put it in a container or bag. Please plan to bring a small cooler if you’re having a hospital birth as they will not refrigerate it for you. Keep it full of ice and kept as cold as possible.

If you have frozen your placenta, it will take longer to process as we have to let it thaw in the refrigerator fully before processing.

The placenta can be kept at room temperature for 4 hours, refrigerated for 4 days, frozen for 1 year and deep frozen for 2 years.

We cannot process a placenta if it has been frozen, thawed, and frozen again.

Absolutely! You can even do DNA jewelry with processed pieces as well. We will return the remaining placenta back to you.

After you have given birth, let us know asap and we will come get it. If it is overnight, we will generally come get it in the morning. Please make sure to keep it in a ziplock bag or in a sealed container refrigerated or in a cooler with ice until pickup.

Absolutely. As long as it has not been frozen twice, and as long as it has been properly stored we can still process it. Even if you’re beyond the fourth trimester, many women find benefits during their period.

If they hospital needs to send the placenta to pathology, you can discuss with them having someone examine it in your room and taking a small piece back to pathology. If they take it to pathology, we cannot process it as contamination and chemical use occurs. If they take it from the room, it cannot be used. So please make sure you advocate for the safe handling and storage of your placenta.

Unsafe situations include uterine infection, HIV, Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B, or Hepatitis C or if the placenta goes to pathology.

Placentas come in all different sizes. You can generally expect anywhere from 80-200 capsules. The Traditional Chinese Method shrinks the placenta and therefore will produce less.

If processed using the raw start method, it is recommended to take them within 12 weeks.

If processed using the Traditional Chinese Method, they are good for 1-2 years.

Tinctures are extremely shelf stable and will be good for many years with proper storage.

Pills:

Days 1-7: Take 2 capsules, 3 times a day (AM, NOON, PM)
Days 8-15: Take 1 capsule, 3 times a day (AM, NOON, PM)
Days 16+: Take 1-2 capsules every morning as needed

 

Everyone is different, you can take as little as you like or the full dose.

 

Tincture:

7-10 drops in the mouth 1-3 times daily after the pills run out. Tinctures are more potent, adjust to your needs.

The process kills bacteria and viruses and it is safe unless you had a uterine infection present. Induction, epidural, or IV medications are safe for encapsulation.

The placenta is rinsed well and the process kills any bacteria present. It is perfectly safe to process placentas that have come into contact with meconium.

We prefer the raw start method as it retains the most nutrition and benefits. But we also offer the Traditional Chinese Method as well.

The placenta’s job is to filter toxins to keep them from the baby, by putting them back into the mother’s bloodstream for her filter organs to handle. The placenta itself does not process or hold onto toxins.

We love delayed cord clamping! We can still process your placenta with delayed cord clamping.

Yes. As long as the company you use only takes the cord and a small piece of placenta, we can still encapsulate. If they require the whole placenta, we cannot.

We only process one placenta at a time to ensure there is no cross contamination and that you are getting your own placenta back. Everything is also labeled during every step. For tinctures, you will have your own jar processing and it will be labeled.

Yes. We offer the same services as long as you keep your placenta and it doesn’t go to pathology.
